This campaign paid homage to famous movie scenes, linking them to Moviefone. The first tv/cinema spot referenced the "Psychic Child" genre popularized by The Shining, The Omen, and Sixth Sense. The second spot, "Space Apes," honored/ lampooned the Sci-Fi genre, melding together Star Wars, Star Trek and Planet of the Apes.
TV was supported by print and ambient media."Moviefone.com" was written in reverse on walls opposite mirrors in theaters, echoing the famous "redrum" scene in The Shining. For "Space Apes," the famous end-scene from Planet of the Apes was put into coin-operated binoculars near the Statue of Liberty, connecting the brand to the experience.
